The MorMed Platform
LTC provides the automated translation technology for this innovative Web 2.0 platform.
The MorMed solution combines Web 2.0 social software applications with semantic interpretation of content relevant to the medical domain. The platform provides seamless, interactive, and multilingual collaboration in Healthcare and Life Sciences.
LTC Communicator’s automated translation workflow enables information exchange between users in different countries and languages. The platform integrates the technology providing backend management of linguistic tools and resources.
MorMed social networking applications are enhanced with semantic information processing tools such as semantic search, a content recommendation engine, content and user behaviour analysis, and tag suggestion mechanisms. All functionality is maintained language neutral to increase multilingual collaboration and information exchange.
Help Desk Support
Integrated with a helpdesk system, LTC Communicator allows a service provider to run a centralized support centre without training and equipping local support desks in different countries. The user and the support engineer do not need to share a common language.
The system is configured to deliver machine-translated questions/answers (trouble tickets/solutions) at an understandable level. The modular architecture combining workflow automation and linguistic processing gives flexibility and reliability to the overall system. The web server architecture allows remote access and easy integration with existing help desk systems. Here, LTC Communicator can support online information input, error notice entry, a knowledge base for FAQs and easily integrates as part of the error handling workflow.
For example, where an English-speaking helpdesk supports German users:
- The user enters a trouble ticket in German, via the company’s support portal software;
- The trouble ticket is routed through the LTC Communicator translation components;
- The request is displayed to the support engineer in English;
- The engineer prepares the solution, also in English, to be automatically routed back through the translation environment
- The user can then view the solution (or status information) in German.
As an integrated learning infrastructure, EUCAM sources its content from across the whole production chain. The knowledge of suppliers and machine manufacturers can be continually integrated into one central learning system.
Thanks to a process based learning system, 300 jobs were previously saved at DaimlerChrysler in Mannheim explains Michael Ehrke, responsible for training issues on the Board of Management of IG Metall. “At the time, it became clear that cable production was no longer profitable for the company in Mannheim and we managed to retrain 300 colleagues in engine production within 6 weeks.” This was aided by a so called production learning system (PLS). At DaimlerChrysler alone, according to information from IG Metall, translation costs reached €28 million a year, the majority of them were in technology and production areas. “If we overcome language barriers using EUCAM we can reduce costs and DaimlerChrysler would benefit greatly from this,” according to Michael Ehrke.
The shared multilingual e-learning improved technical cooperation between manufacturers, machine manufacturers and suppliers at international level. It also improved intercultural cooperation between production sites and structures, and increased acceptance to further training by maintaining a better relationship.

Integrated with an Email server system, it allows a user to receive email messages in different languages and read them in their native language. Senders and recipients of email messages do not need to share a common language.
For example, where an English-speaking email application supports German users:
- The sender compiles and sends their email in German;
- The email is routed through the LTC-Communicator translation components;
- The email is displayed to the recipient in English;
- The recipient prepares the response, also in English, that may be routed to another recipient or back to the original sender, through the translation environment;
- The sender can then view the response in German.
